Tech Company Globant Offering ‘Work From Home’ to 30,000 Employees
Tech giant Globant is setting a new example by offering its employees the option to work from home.
Globant, one of the world’s largest tech companies, is providing the work-from-home facility to its employees on such a large scale.
Globant’s CEO, Martín Migoya, prefers employees to work in the office, but he believes it should not be mandatory. Migoya mentioned that employees come to the office voluntarily, as they understand the importance of the office. For them, the office is not just a place to work, but a center for collaboration. According to Migoya, “We have seen that people are coming to the office, they gather together, they use the office in a different way, and we are also giving our offices a new look so that they can adapt with changing times.”
Migoya’s team has redesigned offices after the COVID-19 pandemic, placing round tables instead of personal desks to accommodate more people and creating more space for lounges. Globant’s global CEO, Patricia Pomies, also believes in autonomy and suggests giving each team the flexibility to work in a way that allows them to perform at their best, whether from home or the office. This move by Globant contrasts with policies at Alphabet Inc’s Google, Microsoft Corp, and Meta, where employees are required to work from the office. There is also ongoing debate on this issue in India. Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath had recently stated that the concept of work from home does not resonate well with some of their employees. Decision-makers find it challenging as communication barriers emerge in such cases.
